Ingredients:

For the dumplings:

- 1 cup milk powder

- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

- 1/4 tsp baking soda

- 1/4 tsp salt

- 1/4 cup ghee or oil

- 1 cup lukewarm milk


For the rose syrup (Gulab):

- 1 cup granulated sugar

- 1 cup water

- 1/4 cup rose water

- 1/4 cup lemon juice

- Cardamom pods, for flavor (optional)


Instructions:

1. Mix milk powder, flour, baking soda, and salt.

2. Add ghee or oil and mix until crumbly.

3. Gradually add lukewarm milk to form a dough.

4. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.

5. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

6. Divide into small balls.

7. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.

8. Soak in rose syrup (Gulab) for at least 30 minutes.


To make the rose syrup:

1. Combine sugar, water, rose water, and lemon juice in a saucepan.

2. Heat until sugar dissolves.

3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

4. Remove from heat and add cardamom pods, if using.

5. Let cool and strain before using.


Tips:

- Use high-quality rose water for the best flavor.

- Adjust the amount of rose water to your taste.

- You can also add a few drops of red food coloring to the syrup for a pink color.

- Gulab Jamun can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
